Begin by following three simple rules: Use Short Words, Keep It Simple, and Be Clear.
For every piece of writing, ask:
- Is it accurate?
- Is it complete?
- Is it too complex—or, too basic?
- Is information easy to find?
- Does it need an index, illustrations, tables?
Also check for these musts:
- Each paragraph sticks to one point.
- There's no unnecessary repetition.
- There are no run-on sentences.
