Where Fuzzy Writing Gets Clear

Past Projects

Following are descriptions of a few completed projects, from small to large.

Small: flyer, letter, resume

  • Checked grammar for an artist whose native language is not English
  • Checked grammar for a dental school applicant whose native language is not English
  • Edited a client's resume and cover letter

Medium: web page(s), article, website, report

  • Provided research, writing, and editing services to a client who needed to complete a training guide in time for a major conference on biofeedback. Practitioners who are using the guide report that they love it.
  • Helped a client with strong writing skills gain confidence in the quality of her website by helping her with grammar and punctuation. In some cases, we edited passages together, and in others, I did original writing and rewriting.
  • Completed the final round of edits for a book that I hadn’t previously worked on. The grateful client included my name on the Acknowledgments page.

Large: website, book, user guide, procedures manual, training guide, reference guide

  • On contract with major corporations, wrote user guides, training manuals, reference guides, and quick starts for computer systems. Reviewed existing documentation, tested the systems, and interviewed developers and end users.
  • Edited three books for a medical professional who is also a published author. I first did a substantive edit, which included reorganizing sections and chapters, creating tables and appendices, and revising tables of contents and lists of tables. Then I copyedited.
  • A client who was creating a new website asked me to reduce 30 draft files of web content to 12--without losing any significant content--and then to edit and refine from there. His dream was to have the site up and running within ten days, but we agreed that it was a three-month project. To solve this dilemma, I proposed posting files to the website by installment. The client enthusiastically accepted this proposal. Ten days later, we posted the first file to the new site, and followed that with one more file per week for the next 11 weeks.
