Collaborative Editing

This is one of my specialties. Choose it if you'd like to fully participate in the editing process.

The final product will be in your own words. It will also be clear and accurate, and reflect a professional use of grammar and punctuation.

Copyediting

Includes ensuring consistency; correcting grammar and usage; and making simple revisions to clarify awkward or confusing passages.

Substantive Editing

Like copyediting, substantive editing includes rephrasing for smoothness and clarity--but to a greater extent. In some cases, substantive editing involves reorganizing, tightening, reducing, or simplifying content. I proceed with a substantive edit only when the client expressly requests it.

Writing

In addition to editing, I write articles, procedures, proposals, reports, user guides, web content, and more.

Writing requires research, which usually consists of some combination of interviewing experts, studying pertinent written information, or using a system that is being documented.
